SPORTS & RECREATION: From bumper cars to ropes courses – onboard sports and recreation goes the distance.

When it comes to onboard sports and recreation options, the cruise industry has come a long, long way since the days of shuffleboard courts and ping-pong tables. Now guests expect more adrenaline-pumping onboard experiences, and cruise lines have delivered. With climbing walls, surf simulators, pretzel-like waterslides, ziplining and skydiving, sea days will never be the same.

And it’s not just the thrill junkies who are having all the fun. With every new ship, cruise lines offer innovative recreation options everyone—whatever their exhilaration level—will enjoy. Royal Caribbean’s Quantum and Anthem of the Seas offer the largest sports space at sea with their SeaPlex, featuring roller skating, bumper cars, a circus school with trapeze and even a food truck. And new Carnival Vista features a twisting, 455-foot enclosed water tube called the Kaleid-O-Slide.

Cruise lines are looking for enthusiastic sports staff who love sports of all kinds and have a knack for coordinating activities for large groups or individuals. In addition, onboard youth programs need staff that have a sports and recreation background who love working with and motivating kids and teens.
