01 May HAVE BEAUTY, WILL TRAVEL: ONBOARD SPAS, HEALTH AND WELLNESS
Spas and wellness centers at sea are just as luxurious, with a full menu of state-of-the-art treatments, therapies and products you’d find on land. But wouldn’t you rather have a gorgeous view of the endless ocean while you worked?
Most onboard spas are located at the top of a ship. Larger cruise ships feature up to 20 treatment rooms overlooking the sea, fitness centers with the latest equipment and Zen-ready relaxation areas. Some of the bigger spas include thermal suites, thalassotherapy pools, medi-spa treatment areas and more. The larger and more sophisticated the spa, the more comprehensive the treatment menu.
If you’re certified and have some experience in your field, you can easily take your career onboard and travel the world while helping guests look and feel their best. Onboard salons and spas on major cruise lines are operated by a concessionaire company who hires, trains and places their staff on cruise ships worldwide. However, some spas and salons are managed by the cruise lines themselves.
Typical onboard positions include: Salon / Spa Manager, Assistant Salon / Spa Manager, Hair Stylist, Barber, Beauty Therapist, Nail Technician, Acupuncturist, Massage Therapist, Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, Fitness Director
